Puppies in Search & Rescue Training
In addition to training your puppy for Puppy, Basic, and Advanced Obedience, you may wish to continue on to Search & Rescue Training.
Puppies can be trained for any or all of the below categories. These three types of specialty training include a Training Log.
- Article Search:
Dogs and puppies trained in Article Search will be looking for items that a have a human scent. Such items may include personal posessions dropped by the missing person.
- Air Scenting:
Dogs and puppies trained in Air Scenting sniff the air for the human scent. When following the human scent by air, a dog or puppy will follow the cone-shaped trail of sloughed off skin cells which leads to the lost or missing person.
- Cadaver Search:
Dogs and puppies trained in Cadaver Search are looking for lost or missing persons thought to be deceased. Cadaver training can be a stand-alone training where the dog is trained only to find human remains, or in conjunction with other types of training, such as the Article Search and/or Air Scenting.
